Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
This policy explains what personal data the Los Angeles Polish Film & Music Festival website (lapfestival.org) collects, why, and what choices you have.
Who we are
The festival is organized by the Hollywood Center for Polish and European Art and Culture ("HEC", "we") together with the Per4m Foundation. HEC is responsible for the personal data collected through this website.
Questions or requests about your data: office@hollywoodeuropeancenter.org.
What we collect and why
Prize drawing sign-ups: your first name, last name, email address and your consent. We use them to run the drawing, contact winners, and send you news about the festival. Festival organizers receive a daily email summary of new entries.
Language preference: a cookie named "locale" remembers whether you chose English or Polish. It is needed for the site to work and is kept for one year.
Your cookie choice: your browser stores whether you accepted or declined marketing cookies, so we don't ask you on every visit.
Meta Pixel (only if you click "Accept"): a tool from Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram) that tells Meta which pages you visit on this site, when you click "Donate", and when you sign up for the prize drawing, together with technical data such as your browser, device and IP address. Meta sets its own cookies (for example "_fbp"). We use this to measure our ads and to show festival news to people who have visited the site. Meta may link this data to your Facebook or Instagram account under Meta's own privacy policy.
Technical data: our hosting provider processes basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Donations: the "Donate" button takes you to hollywoodeuropeancenter.org, where donations and payment details are handled. This website does not collect payment information.
Legal basis
We use the Meta Pixel and prize drawing data on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We process technical data and the language cookie on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that run the site for us: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (email delivery), and — only with your consent — Meta Platforms (advertising measurement). Some of these providers process data in the United States.
How long we keep it
Prize drawing entries are kept for as long as needed to run the drawing and festival communications, and no longer than 12 months after the festival ends, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Meta keeps Pixel data according to its own policy.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy of it. You can withdraw consent at any time — this does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. To make a request, write to office@hollywoodeuropeancenter.org.
If you are in the European Union, you can also complain to your data protection authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, UODO). If you are a California resident, you have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its sharing for advertising — declining marketing cookies below does exactly that.
Changing your cookie choice
You can change your decision at any time with the button below. The cookie banner will appear again so you can choose.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website or our tools change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
